Shane Targett MSc FCiLT
Shane Targett is perhaps Europe’s most recognised expert in Inventory Optimisation and Military Support Chain Management. With almost 30 years of practical experience and academic achievement, Shane's lecturing skills and consulting expertise are in demand worldwide. He pioneered Inventory Cost-Optimisation in the UK MOD in the early 1990's and has consulted in Defence Inventory Optimisation and SCM since retiring as a senior officer in 1999. Shane holds an MSc in Logistics Engineering from Exeter University where he specialised in computer-aided mathematical modelling and optimisation techniques. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Logistics & Transport, a Fellow of the MIRCE Academy, holds a permanent position at Cranfield University and lectures at the UK Defence Academy and other major institutions and international symposia. Dougal Smith MBE BSc

After attaining his degree in mathematical statistics “Dougal” Smith was commissioned into the RAF. The highlight of his 23 years of distinguished service was to be awarded an MBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for his services to the Crown. The majority of Dougal's career has been spent in the fields of IT and R&D. He has presented lectures on mathematical and simulation models worldwide. Dougal is the author of the MOD's SCALER and WARSIM models. Dougal is currently engaged in the support and development of EDCAS and in researching future modelling requirements. Dougal’s vast knowledge and extensive hands-on experience of Logistics simulation and deterministic modelling is possibly unequalled. Click here for more details.
Dr Christine RutherfordPhD, MSc (Logs), MSc(Chem), BSc (Hons)

After graduating from the University of Natal, Chris initially worked as an industrial chemist for the South African mining industry before moving to Britain and being commissioned as a Royal Air Force Supply officer. Chris gained first-hand experience in supply chain strategy and front line logistics support before becoming a logistics analyst and joint service logistics consultant leading several supply chain planning, logistics modelling, operational analysis and strategic resource allocation projects. Chris joined Cranfield University in 2002 as a lecturer in logistics modelling, decision sciences, demand planning and inventory management. She lectures on postgraduate and executive development programmes at Cranfield and other business schools across Europe, including NIT (Hamburg) and SIMT (Stuttgart). Mr Eric Chorley BSc MSc

Eric Chorley has 30 years experience in the Defence Industry gaining a vast knowledge in an eclectic range of disciplines from Quality Assurance, Project Management and Manufacturing to Integrated Logistic Support (ILS). He has successfully filled many executive ILS roles. From joining Racal's first ILS organisation in the early 1990s to more recently being the Customer Support Director with Raytheon UK unitl 2004. Eric has worked on such programs as BOWMAN, ASTOR and SIFF. His years of practical success is underpinned by an MSc in Logistics Engineering, he is an active member of the Institute of Quality Assurance, a qualified Six Sigma specialist and a Fellow of the Mirce Academy.
